John Short was born in Liverpool and grew up near Ormskirk in Lancashire. He studied comparative religion at Leeds University and creative writing at Liverpool University Centre for Continuing Education. Later he spent some years in Europe doing a variety of jobs before settling in Athens. In 2008 he returned to Liverpool and began to submit work to magazines. His poems and stories have appeared in many magazines in Britain, Spain, France and the USA most recently in The Frogmore Papers, Prole, Dream Catcher and Ink Sweat and Tears. He is a member of The Dead Good Poets and The Liver Bards and reads on Vintage Radio Birkenhead and at open mic venues around Liverpool. These days he divides his time between Liverpool and Sabadell in Catalonia.
